What a week!!!

Well, it all started Tuesday morning. Missy had a 7:30am appt. at St. Anthony's hospital to have an external version done due to the baby still being breech. We knew that there was about a 20% chance the version would result in having to have an emergency C-section so we went with Missy's packed suitcase and ready for that possibility. The version was painful to watch and as Missy will tell you it was even more painful to endure. The doctors were unsuccessful :( During the version they had ultrasound techs monitoring what they were doing and after they were done trying they looked at the ultrasound and saw that the baby had also not grown in the last 2 weeks. The doctor had said the baby had probobly done all the growing internally it was going to do so the best thing would be to take it now and let it grow on it's own. They took her into surgery and called me in shortly after. There's no way for me to describe walking into a room and seeing my wife laid out on the table and... CENSORED for graphic detail. Anyways the doctor pulled out our baby and handed it over to the clean-up crew, where amid the SOS pads and Mr. Clean foam we heard one say, "It's a girl!". They handed her to me so Mommy could see her.
Eventually we all ended up in the same room and we had our little Maezie Grace with us. She was born at 11:04am Tuesday morning, March 24th. She weighed in at a whopping 5lbs. 3oz. and stretched out to be a long 18". That day Grandpa & Grandma Matthews, my sister Nikki, Grandma Staley, and Missy's sister Alisha as well as our good friends Chris, Kelly & Paris, and John, Jess & Kristen came to meet our little one. Some of our youth also came up - Ruben, Emily, David, & Scout. Thanks so much for all the well wishes, flowers, and cards! Missy and Maezie got to finally come home Friday evening and we were all pretty exhausted. Everybody's doing well - Missy's still sore and moving even slower than usual (if you can believe that's possible) but up and about a little more each day, Maezie's doing well and getting the hang of eating more and more, however the sleeping and pooping that makes up the rest of her day comes fairly naturally to her (she gets that from me), and besides preaching tomorrow I've enjoyed my time off with my 'family'!
God bless until next time.
